Protecting Those Who Matter Most, Clients.

When owning a business, you will want to ensure the safety of your clients. Be storm-ready by preparing your staff for what you expect of them.
Owning a business is a lot of work because employees and customers rely on you to supply their demands. A business owner won't consider the possibility that a storm will come through, and the owner will be in charge of their patron's life. As we know, Friday, December 10, 2021, the country was hit hard by destructive tornadoes. When a storm hits, you might feel like a rush to try and execute the plan put into place. This is how a business owner can help minimize injuries, property damage, and business losses. Follow these easy steps, and you can ensure the safety of your employees, clients, and yourself.
Plan in advance to protect people.
Being prepared for anything at a second's notice is the first thing that will make or break the outcome of a storm—being ready for an emergency plan detailing what a supervisor and employees should do to ensure the customer's safety. One of these critical elements to being storm-ready is finding the safest areas in the building. This area shouldn't include windows to prevent glass shattering. Another essential element for this step is to assign roles and responsibilities to supervisors and employees.
Take Warnings Seriously and Act Quick
When you hear the siren alarm indicating the need to take shelter, your team will need impeccable communication to protect the clients. Sometimes a storm will hit randomly, causing little to no time to prepare for what is coming. Your team will need to have strong communication to try and prevent any customers from leaving. To ensure that everyone is going to stay safe during this difficult time.
Someone P.A.S.S. the Fire Extinguisher

Show your employees where you can find a fire extinguisher, so they know in case of emergency.
There are many unexpected causations of why a fire might start at the workplace. Someone could have left their candle going, or someone might have forgotten their lunch in the microwave. Whatever the reason, it’s all about how you react to the fire alarm to determine if you can get it extinguished before it grows.
The fire alarms are going off due to someone forgetting their lunch in the microwave. You find the nearest fire extinguisher, and you approach the fire.
- Pull the pin. This will break the tamper seal as well.
- Aim low; you will want to point the extinguisher nozzle at the base of the fire.
- Squeeze the handle to release the extinguishing agent.
- Sweep from side to side at the base of the fire until it appears to be out.
By following these steps, you can guarantee that you keep your business safe. When you implement training of the extinguisher equipment, you can ensure that your employees know what needs to get done, so a problem ever arises.
Is Your Business Winter Ready?

Make sure your employees are aware of your expectations as they decorate their offices for the holidays.
As the nights become longer and the days become colder, we must be prepared for the challenges we face during the winter months. Often we don't think about what steps we should take to ensure that our business stays safe.
Cold Temperatures, Colder Pipes
Just like your home during the winter, the pipes can freeze and burst if it's not immediately addressed. This happens overnight when everyone leaves, and the heat isn't left on most of the time. We suggest keeping the heat on to ensure the pipes stay warm enough so water doesn't freeze.
Personal Space Heaters
Employees will frequently decorate their offices for the holiday season. Still, the first sign of the season is when employees bring in their own personal space heaters. This becomes problematic as they are often placed in areas that aren't the best. When you mix space heaters and office holiday decorations, you're left with perfect conditions for a fire. To combat office fires, you, the business owner, should send out a document to all employees containing your requirements for using space heaters. This allows no grey areas on what is safe and not safe.
December: Peak Time for Candle Fires
According to the National Fire Protection Association, December is the peak time for candle fires. People want to have their office smell like their favorite seasonal fragrance, which can become a problem when they aren't blown out. We suggest that if you're going to have a candle in your office, you purchase a candle warmer.
Soda Blasting Erasing Graffiti
11/16/2021 (Permalink)
No business owner wants to come to their business and find someone who decided to vandalize their property with spray paint. You shouldn't sweat if your business has been vandalized by spray painters because SERVPRO has your back. SERVPRO uses a piece of equipment called Soda Blaster to clear off any unwanted destruction to the interior/ exterior of one's business/home.
Granite is a coarse rock that we use to blast char or staining off of materials. We use two systems to extract graffiti off of a property:
Wet System
This is a system where we use in areas where there is a need for abrasive solid power. The product that is used requires some form of cleanup, but it's environmentally friendly. We tend not to use this system when the interior of a business doesn't want to get undamaged areas wet.
Dry System
This system is used inside a business as we would use this method to not wet other surfaces.
How it Works
When using the soda blasting machine, our technicians must use the full PPE. To avoid dust particles, we will place the area under negative pressure to eliminate any dust particles. An air scrubber will duct the unit out of a window so there is a way for the particles can escape. We follow this up with a very detailed cleaning.
All vents and returns are covered to isolate the room from the HVAC systems, requiring a duct cleaning after the work is completed. We do this so that no fine particles spread throughout the facility.
